Residential Trips

At Burstow we believe that real learning takes place when children are given a context and real-life experiences are used to motivate and ‘hook’ learners in, allowing them to question, investigate and hypothesise. Trips and visits take place each half term which are directly linked to the class topic. These might involve the pupils visiting a museum, historical site, farm etc, or it may involve an enrichment activity taking place within school such as a theatre company, visiting speaker or animal experience.

As part of the pupil’s Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural development, pupils in Year 3 and Year 6 take part in residential visits which develop team building, risk taking, self-esteem and problem solving. Year 3 visit High Ashurst Outdoor Learning Centre near Box Hill for a two-day experience and Year 6 visit the Norfolk Lakes for five days.
