Art

At Burstow Primary School, we provide an engaging and creative Art curriculum that encourages children to explore, experiment, and express themselves through a wide range of artistic experiences. Pupils develop their creativity and confidence by exploring different artists, styles, techniques, and materials, while learning to observe the world around them and communicate their ideas through art. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media, children are encouraged to develop their own artistic voice and take pride in their creative work.

As pupils progress through the school, they build on their artistic knowledge and skills, learning to use a variety of tools and materials with increasing confidence and control. They are taught to explore and refine techniques, make thoughtful choices, and evaluate and reflect on their work. By studying artists and art from different cultures and periods, children develop an appreciation of diversity, creativity, and artistic expression. By the time they leave Burstow, every child will have developed the skills, confidence, and curiosity to express their ideas creatively and appreciate the role of art in the world around them.
