School Council

The children of Burstow School have a very strong voice when it comes to school policy or as a part of any decision making process. There are times when suggestions or ideas cannot be acted upon because of financial constraints or because of health and safety matters, but generally we do listen to our children and act upon their ideas and suggestions.

The School Council is made up of elected class members, one from each class in the school, this is currently twelve. Two members of year 6 were chosen by the Senior Management Team to lead the School Council and be representatives of the school at the joint schools council of the Horley Learning Partnership.

The School Council has regular meetings; these are chaired by our year 6 leaders. The minutes are taken by one of our support staff. There is a School Council board in the Potter corridor and all forthcoming events and information are advertised here. School Council posters with current representatives’ names and photographs are displayed in all classrooms.
