Lunchtime at Burstow
It is great to see so many of Burstow’s children enjoying a nutritious hot meal that fills them up and gives them an energy boost for their afternoon lessons. The small amount of wasted food is a tribute to Mrs Peterson’s wonderful homemade food.
The school recently conducted a lunchbox survey in order to see what children are being provided with from home for their midday meal. The results will help us to focus on areas where we may be able to promote healthy and more varied ideas to put in lunchboxes.
We have just begun ‘sandwich sampling sessions’ with KS1 packed lunch children. Mrs Peterson gives children a variety of fillings to try and we are hoping that these healthy and tasty ideas may appear more frequently in lunch boxes.
Each month in the Food Zone, ideas for lunch boxes, using seasonal, fresh ingredients will be published. Do read, try and enjoy!
Parents do not have to pay for school lunches if they receive any of the following:
